Tralalero Tralala is widely considered the very first Italian Brainrot character: an AI-generated shark wearing Nike-style sneakers on its elongated fins, scored with an absurd, rhyming Italian text-to-speech chant. It is the founding figure of the whole genre.
Identity and appearance
Tralalero Tralala is usually rendered as a cartoon great-white-style shark — sometimes described as having "three legs" — wearing blue Nike-like sneakers. The most iconic version paired the creature with a CapCut flame-explosion effect, the genre's signature visual garnish. In fan lore the shark is described as improbably athletic, capable of running at superhuman speed and jumping great heights. Its name is often spelled several ways — Tralalero, Tralalelo, Tralalá — none of which is the "correct" one; it's nonsense by design.
Origin story
The phrase "tralalero tralala" has a longer history: Wikipedia notes that in October 2023, memes of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson showed him rhyming nonsense and using (or rhyming with) the phrase "Tralalero tralala." It was later repurposed as the seed of the Italian Brainrot trend.
The trend proper is dated to early January 2025 on TikTok. The sound's original upload is most often attributed to user @eZburger401, whose account was banned shortly afterward — some sources suggest the profanity in the audio played a role. Because the original clip is now gone, parts of the lore count as lost media. The audio was picked up by other users, and the image that defined it — the sneaker-wearing shark — was popularized by a now-deleted January 13, 2025 post from @amoamimandy.1a that gathered roughly 7 million views. The signature sound
The clip's narration is a robotic Italian chant built around the phrase "tralalero tralala" joined to a string of rhyming nonsense about God, Allah, a son playing Fortnite and a grandmother who interrupts. Know Your Meme and press coverage note that the audio includes strong profanity and an Italian interjection that some viewers read as blasphemy. Why it's popular
Tralalero Tralala had exactly the right ingredients to ignite a trend: a catchy, sing-song phrase; an absurdist visual (a shark in sneakers) that read as elegant slapstick; and an emotionally "delivered" but utterly nonsensical monologue. It became the template that hundreds of copycats, character spin-offs and remixes followed. A phonk remix of the sound went viral in early 2025 and became the backing track for countless anime and soccer edits.
