Remember when Italian Brainrot was just a feed of AI-generated shorts — wooden logs with baseball bats, anthropomorphic cappuccino cups, sharks crooning brain-melting jingles? Somewhere along the way, someone decided those characters deserved book-length adventures. The result is The Brainrots, a monthly comic series that its producer bills as "the official Italian Brainrot comic" (in its own words, "il fumetto ufficiale del Brainrot Italiano"): a 100% Made in Italy project that pulls the viral AI meme characters off the screen and into proper comic-book stories.
From number zero to a shared universe
The project opened with a Numero Zero in July 2025 — a launch issue the publisher calls the first Italian comic dedicated to brainrot. It's remembered for the debut of GOMMOSOUP, a gelatinous monster, as well as a first appearance by the Squadra Volante, and it is scripted by Sandro Savarese. The monthly series proper started the following September with issue #1, and it has published roughly every month since. The comic ships in Italian, English, and French editions.
The lineup reads like a roll-call of the scene's biggest names — Brr Brr Patapim, Tung Tung Sahur, Trallalero Trallala, Ballerina Cappuccina, Cappuccino Assassino, and many more — plus newer faces introduced as the series runs. They all share one continuity: a single narrative universe where characters can meet, team up, butt heads, and cameo across issues.
Endless sagas, from superheroes to the SkibidiWest
The shared universe lets the books stretch beyond one-shots into long-form sagas:
- Super Sahur — Tung Tung Sahur becomes the first superhero of the Brainrot universe through a mysterious event and the powers of the Mazza Gold, an artifact. Episode one, "Le Origini," ran in issue #1 (September 2025); the saga continued with "La Minaccia Misteriosa" in issue #6 (February 2026).
- Gangster Footera — a western saga set in the wilderness of the SkibidiWest, kicking off its first full story in issue #6 (February 2026).
- Baby Crew — young heroes in the town of Harrington investigate eerie disappearances and supernatural mysteries, debuting in issue #9 (May 2026).
There's even a spin-off, Le Avventure di Six Seven (The Adventures of Six Seven), which opened with its first MAXI-format volume in January 2026 starring the character also written as "67."
The monthly run has kept pace: issue #11 (July 2026) celebrated the series' first anniversary as a special edition, and the latest release, issue #13 (September 2026, around 80 pages, list price about €9.90), reached shelves on 9 September.

To mark the anniversary, the publisher has thrown open the Brainrots Awards 2026, where fans vote for the characters, stories, and creations that defined the universe over the past year. Voting is open now.
If casting a vote sounds like fun, so does crafting your own monster: the "Crea il tuo Brainrot" contest lets fans design their own brainrot character for a chance to see it published in the monthly comic. One year in, the memes made it to the printed page — and, it seems, straight into readers' hearts.
